The self-appointed popular committees securing Tahrir Square caught four people carrying melee weapons as they tried to enter the square Friday morning.
Three of them were together, while the fourth, reportedly a former policeman fired in 2006, was entering alone with a penknife.
Popular committees handed over the former policeman to the Giza Security Directorate and the other three to a military police unit near the cabinet offices on Qasr al-Aini Street.
