Al-Masry Al-Youm has obtained a copy of an agreement between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Heliopolis Charity Organization, which was owned by Suzanne Mubarak, wife of ousted President Hosni Mubarak, and managed by former Chief of Presidential Staff Zakaria Azmy, stipulating that the charity receive 0.5 percent of the council’s revenues in donations.
The agreement also allowed the charity to hold exhibitions of genuine ancient Egyptian artifacts at the Suzanne Mubarak Children's Museum, absolving it of any responsibility for damages during their transportation.
It considered the donation as part of the council’s duty to familiarize children with their history and foster an appreciation of antiquities.
The agreement was not reviewed by the State Council, the competent body that approves agreements signed by the council.
According to the agreement, the council cannot claim part of any profits made by such exhibitions.
