The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on Tuesday warned against internet websites and Facebook pages that could incite sectarianism in Egypt.
On its official Facebook page, the SCAF said it detected "a number of pages and accounts on Facebook and the internet that incite sectarianism and violence and spread rumors that could destabilize the country."
The statement said these websites are operated from foreign countries. It urged Egyptians not to listen to rumors that could spark sectarian violence.
The SCAF also denied recent reports about arrests of people involved in the 25 January revolution, emphasizing that the Armed Forces will safeguard the revolution until it achieves its goals.
