Prime Minister Essam Sharaf plans to announce the constitutional declaration on Wednesday. The declaration was submitted to him by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces on Tuesday.
The declaration, which supersedes the 1971 Constitution, defines the powers of the judicial and executive branches of the state during the transition period, until a new constitution is devised after the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
