Hundreds of demonstrators on Wednesday continued to protest in Cairo's Tahrir Square to demand the resignation of Ahmed Shafiq–appointed last month by ousted president Hosni Mubarak–and his cabinet.
Protesters also demanded the dissolution of the State Security Investigation Bureau and the immediate release of all political prisoners.
Protesters are calling for yet another million-man demonstration on Friday to demand that virtually all remnants of the former regime be purged from government.
Clashes, meanwhile, have reportedly erupted between anti-regime protesters in the square and other citizens who voiced opposition to protesters' demands.
Demonstrators have continued to arrive to the iconic square, with several building makeshift tents with the intention of camping out there until Friday.
In a statement, 61 intellectuals and public figures have called on Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to dissolve the sitting cabinet and form a presidential council made up of two civilians and one military figure to mange the country’s affairs for an interim period of between nine months and one year.
