Dokki Prosecution Office is investigating five officials accused of burning documents concerning parliamentary elections for the National Democratic Party (NDP).
The burnt documents were found at former NDP organization secretary Ahmed Ezz's office at the National Association for Parliamentary Referendums and Communications in Dokki, which Ezz chairs. They include state bodies' documents and budgets for the years 2004 and 2005, said investigators.
According to its director, the association serves to gather information about NDP candidates for parliamentary elections. The five employees said they burned the documents because they are not important, adding that important documents remain intact.
The five were released but must not leave their places of residence.
