Dismissed Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid said on Friday that he was ready to face any charges leveled against him.
Rachid’s statement came a few hours after Egypt's attorney-general banned him from travel and froze his bank accounts in light of reports of corruption involving him and his former ministry.
In a press statement, Rachid said he did not intend to "escape" from Egypt under any circumstances since he had committed no crime.
He also stressed that he had served Egypt for six and a half years, saying he was not afraid of any legal action that might be taken against him.
