In a meeting Wednesday, the liberal opposition Wafd Party’s executive office declined a planned visit by shadow parliament members to party headquarters.
“The executive board has the final say,” said Wafd Honorary President Mostafa al-Tawil.
Party Assistant Undersecretary Ahmed Auda said the executive office declined the visit because the party may have policies that contradict those of the shadow parliament. “The decision was taken by a majority of seven votes against two votes and four abstentions,” he explained.
Auda also said the executive office supported the legal committee’s decision to dismiss five members and suspend two more for refusing to carry out the party’s decision to withdraw from last parliamentary election’s runoffs.
