Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Osama Rabie staid navigation in the canal is proceeding regularly and has not been affected by adverse weather conditions.
The SCA head said the Suez Canal is witnessing on Wednesday March 25, 2026 the transit of 39 vessels in both directions, with a total net tonnage of 1.6 million tons, reflecting the Authority’s ability to manage the waterway under the most challenging weather conditions, thanks to its advanced technological systems for monitoring navigation and its highly skilled and experienced maritime workforce.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the SCA said that, while monitoring the regular flow of navigation from the main control center, the chairman directed that all precautionary measures and procedures for dealing with bad weather be implemented.
Rabie also stressed that all marine units affiliated with the Authority must adhere to navigation safety measures, particularly during the boarding and disembarking of pilots, as well as routine maritime operations.
The Crisis and Disaster Management Committee is in continuous session around the clock to monitor navigation in the canal, ensure the readiness of marine rescue teams, and raise the preparedness level of rescue tugboats for rapid intervention in emergencies, he added.
Additionally, preparedness levels of the Authority’s hospitals and medical centers, as well as ambulance and firefighting services have also been heightened.
The SCA chief also directed maintaining ongoing communication and coordination with the operations rooms of the canal cities to provide necessary support in emergency situations.
Rabie further said services for transporting citizens between the two banks of the canal continue through ferries, bridges and tunnels operated by the Authority, in accordance with maritime safety regulations and in full coordination with navigation offices in the three canal cities.
