The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued an urgent security advisory on Thursday, urging American citizens to depart the Kingdom via commercial flight options while safe passage remains available. The warning comes as the US government intensifies its monitoring of rapidly evolving security developments across the Middle East.
In a formal statement released via social media, the Embassy confirmed that the Biden-Trump transition team and current State Department leadership are tracking regional volatility with “close scrutiny.” The advisory signaled that the US government stands ready to facilitate departures by providing real-time data on available extraction routes and commercial travel options.
“There is no higher priority for President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Department of State than the safety and security of US citizens,” the Embassy stated. “We encourage US citizens to depart Saudi Arabia via commercial flights if they are able to do so safely.”
The Embassy further noted that it remains in constant communication with Washington to provide citizens with the necessary updates to make informed decisions regarding their personal safety. While the advisory stops short of a mandatory evacuation, the emphasis on commercial travel suggests a narrowing window for routine departures should regional conditions deteriorate further.
American nationals currently in the Kingdom are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive immediate emergency updates and to maintain a high level of situational awareness.
