Tensions arise between US and Israel over bombing of Iranian oil facilities: Report

The Israeli Channel 12 reported on Sunday evening that tensions have arisen between the US and Israel following Israel’s heavy Saturday attack on Iranian oil storage facilities.

The source cited American and Israeli officials, alongside another source familiar with the details.

The report indicated that this is the first significant disagreement between the US and Israel since the start of the conflict with Iran nine days ago, adding that the matter will be discussed at the highest political level between both sides.

The Israeli Air Force bombed 30 Iranian oil storage facilities in Tehran and other cities on the Saturday strike.

The bombing resulted in massive fires in the capital, Tehran, as well as significant pollution in the city and surrounding areas.

The Israeli military claimed in a statement: “The Iranian regime uses oil depots to supply various needs, including its military proxies.”

An Israeli source also said that the bombing was intended as a signal to Iran to cease its attacks on Israeli civilian infrastructure, according to the report.

The report further stated that Israeli and American sources confirmed the Israeli military briefed the US military on the operation prior to the attack.
