FM urges full implementation of Trump’s 20-point peace plan without selectivity

CAIRO, Feb 19 (MENA) – Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of fully implementing US President Donald Trump’s peace plan, including its twenty points, without selectivity, particularly the “rejection of the annexation of the West Bank and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.”

In an interview with UN News on the sidelines of the UN Security Council ministerial meeting on Middle East issues in New York, Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s full support for President Trump’s peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

He stated that there is a consensus on this, and the United States’ approach is fully supported.

He added that everyone categorically rejects all violations carried out by Israel, particularly in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and agrees that these actions represent a serious threat to the implementation of President Trump’s peace plan.

The foreign minister stressed that there is a consensus within the Security Council condemning Israel’s systematic violations of international law and President Trump’s plan, noting that such actions threaten the continuity and execution of the plan.

Minister Abdelatty explained that moving ahead requires full adherence to the twenty points in President Trump’s plan, which includes the clear rejection of Israel’s annexation of the West Bank and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their state.

He continued “If we are talking about this plan, it must be accepted in its entirety, not by selecting certain points and ignoring others. This is what we are emphasizing and striving for – to implement the plan comprehensively, including all twenty points.”

When asked if there was consensus on these positions, Minister Abdelatty acknowledged that consensus is positive but stressed that the most important thing is preventing Israel from continuing these systematic violations and ensuring that this plan is enforced for all, holding accountable those who violate it.

In response to a question about whether there are any moves within the UN or Security Council to change what the UN has described as a dangerous course, the foreign minister clarified that it is certainly necessary for the international community and the Security Council to take responsibility, as the Security Council is the only UN body concerned with international peace and security.

He added, “Therefore, there is a direct responsibility on the Security Council, and it must fulfill this responsibility in holding accountable and punishing the party that violates international law, the UN Charter, and UN resolutions.” (MENA)
