The competent investigative authorities on Wednesday have moved to release a suspect accused of sexually harassing a woman on a bus in the al-Mokattam area, on bail of LE 1,000.
The incident began when security services monitored a video clip showing a young woman pleading for help and recording her complaint on her phone about a man she stated was harassing her.
Immediately, a search team from the Cairo Security Directorate, in coordination with the Information Technology Department, was formed to determine the bus route and review surveillance camera footage from nearby stops.
Security forces were able to identify and apprehend the suspect, who denied the accusations against him when confronted with the video.
The Public Prosecution initiated investigations, ordering the video to be preserved and examined by forensic experts, and requested further investigations from the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the incident.
