President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed the necessity of full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, in line with US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and the facilitation of the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
They also underscored the urgency of launching early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Strip.
The two leaders reiterated Egypt’s and Jordan’s firm and categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land.
They also reviewed the latest developments in the West Bank, renewing their rejection of all violations and arbitrary practices against the Palestinian people.
Both leaders asserted that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
These remarks were made during Sisi’s reception of King Abdullah II at Cairo International Airport on Sunday.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said that the official reception ceremony at Al-Ittihadiya Palace was followed by a private meeting between the two leaders, then an expanded round of talks attended by the delegations of both countries and concluded with a luncheon hosted by Sisi in honor of the King of Jordan and his accompanying delegation.
Shennawy added that the talks tackled the special fraternal ties between Egypt and Jordan and the importance of advancing bilateral relations in a manner that serves the interests and aspirations of both brotherly peoples.
For his part, King Abdullah II lauded the strong bonds of brotherhood and constructive cooperation between the two countries.
He also affirmed Jordan’s keenness to continue working closely with Egypt to elevate bilateral relations to broader horizons and to enhance political consultation on various issues of mutual concern.
The presidential spokesman noted that the meeting addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as the latest situations in several countries across the region.
Shennawy further indicated that both leaders praised the positive momentum witnessed in relations between the two countries.
They affirmed the necessity of continuing to strengthen and elevate cooperation across various fields, including preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee.
