Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan al-Khatib confirmed on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the government’s commitment to supporting and expanding the investments of the global company Saint-Gobain in the Egyptian market.
This came during his meeting with company officials on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum (Davos) in Switzerland where both sides discussed opportunities to strengthen existing investments and expansion plans in the fields of building materials and sustainable solutions.
Khatib said that the government welcomes Saint-Gobain’s expansion plans, particularly the establishment of a second flat glass production line.
He emphasized the country’s appreciation for the large investments made by the company since it started operations in Egypt in 2008, noting that these investments demonstrate the confidence of international investors in the Egyptian economy and the stability of the investment environment.
Khatib underscored the importance of boosting industrial exports, pointing out that transforming Egypt into a regional hub for production and export is a central pillar of the state’s investment strategy.
This approach contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy, he said.
Meanwhile, Saint-Gobain officials asserted the company’s commitment to strengthening sustainability practices in the Egyptian market.
They explained that the company invested in solar energy projects to ensure 100 percent sustainable electricity for some of its industrial operations, in addition to providing advanced construction solutions.
These include solar control glass that helps reduce heat by between 60 percent and 70 percent, thereby supporting energy efficiency and sustainable building trends.
