FM receives calls from Somalia, Turkey, Djibouti FMs on Horn of Africa developments

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received on Friday phone calls from Foreign Minister of Somalia Abdisalam Ali, Foreign Minister of Turkey Hakan Fidan and Foreign Minister of Djibouti Abdul Kader Hussein Omar.

The discussions focused on the recent critical developments in the Horn of Africa, particularly regarding Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.

The ministers unanimously condemned and rejected Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.

The foreign ministers emphasized full support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, rejecting any unilateral actions that could undermine Somali sovereignty or destabilize the country. They reaffirmed support for Somalia’s legitimate state institutions and opposed any attempts to impose parallel entities conflicting with the nation’s unity.

The ministers also stressed that recognizing parts of a country’s territory as independent sets a dangerous precedent, threatening international peace, security and established principles of international law and the UN Charter. Respect for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states is a cornerstone for international stability and must not be violated under any pretext.

They further rejected any attempts to create parallel entities that contradict international legitimacy and undermine opportunities for peace, security, and development. The ministers asserted their firm rejection of any plans to displace the Palestinian people from their land, a stance strongly opposed by the majority of countries worldwide.
