Madbouly follows up on progress in development of Pyramids area

CAIRO, Nov 30 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the great attention given to the Giza Plateau area and its surrounding regions, especially with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the continuous efforts to implement numerous development works, as well as efficiency upgrades that contribute to providing more advanced services for visitors to these archaeological and historical areas and improving the tourist experience.

This came during the Prime Minister’s meeting Sunday, at the New Administrative Capital, to follow up on the implementation status of development projects in the areas surrounding the Giza Plateau.

Madbouly said, “Today’s meeting aims to follow up on the implementation progress and the steps taken within the framework of the tourism master plan for the area surrounding the World Heritage Site at the Giza Plateau, including proposals to expand the establishment of numerous hotel rooms, as well as various entertainment and commercial activities, in response to the needs and expectations of visitors to this promising area.”

During the meeting, the Minister of Housing presented the main components of the tourism master plan for the area surrounding the Giza Plateau, including the proposed structure of economic activities based on projected tourism market studies for the region, particularly after the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

He pointed to expectations regarding the annual increase in the number of hotel rooms in the Giza Plateau and surrounding areas from now until 2040, in line with the anticipated growth in tourist traffic visiting these archaeological and historical destinations.

He noted that the tourism master plan aims to strike a balance between heritage and modernity through an integrated development vision that includes various tourism and entertainment activities, creating a distinctive and rich experience for visitors.

He added, “This plan aims to develop this promising area, which is linked to one of the world’s heritage sites, with the goal of making it an iconic and fully integrated destination that celebrates the uniqueness of Egypt’s ancient heritage while also reflecting the modern, attractive, and forward-looking image Egypt presents to its visitors and investors—affirming Egypt’s leadership in sustainable and inclusive tourism.”

For his part, the Assistant Minister of Housing indicated that the tourism master plan includes the preparation of distinguished tourist programs for visitors, encompassing various events, tours, and activities to enhance the visitor experience. He confirmed that the plan includes offering numerous hospitality options of various levels in partnership with major global hotel brands.

He added that the plan also includes strategies related to preserving visual integrity, as well as protecting heritage and utilizing the site to create a unique identity for the area through the addition of diverse investment centers, each serving as a nucleus for tourism development and investment.
