Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi affirmed their commitment to upholding the Gaza ceasefire and ensuring full implementation of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Agreement.
The two ministers’ remarks were made during their meeting on Thursday on the sidelines of the 10th Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum in Barcelona.Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf stated that the meeting underscored the “special nature” of Egyptian-Jordanian relations, marked by sustained coordination on regional and international matters.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the increasing momentum in bilateral cooperation and underscored the importance of further strengthening economic and investment collaboration, building on the existing coordination mechanisms between the two countries.
The ministers also discussed recent developments in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the need to consolidate the ceasefire and fully implement the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Agreement at all stages.
They stressed the importance of full compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza and the need to facilitate the mandate of the International Stabilization Force.
They also underlined the importance of ensuring unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts.Khallaf added that both sides agreed to continue their joint efforts to mobilize international support, foster a conducive environment for restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and advance a substantive political process grounded in the two-state solution.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of ongoing consultations and coordination between Egypt and Jordan on regional and international matters.Both sides also committed to strengthening joint efforts to safeguard Arab national security and promote regional stability.
