The Giza Criminal Court decided on Saturday to postpone the trial of footballer Ramadan Sobhi and three other defendants, accused of forging official documents related to exams at a tourism and hotel institute, until Tuesday.
The charges in the case include forging answer sheets, falsifying attendance records, and preparing false official documents to prove attendance at exams and courses that did not actually take place.
Sobhi was present in the courtroom and placed in the defendant cage. The court witnessed heightened security measures during the proceedings.
The court confronted the defendants with the accusations included in the indictment, and all of them denied the charges.
The defense for the first defendant in the case requested a postponement to prepare their arguments, and the defense for the second defendant also requested a postponement for the same purpose.
The prosecution had previously decided to release Sobhi, a player for Pyramids FC, on bail of LE 100,000, in connection with the forgery charges.
The referral order stated that all the defendants committed forgery in the answer booklets for the third-year exams at the institute.
