The Egyptian Ministry of Manpower called on Egyptian citizens in Lebanon to promptly take advantage of the deadline for settling their residency and work status, according to a statement published by the Ministry on Thursday.
The Ministry received an urgent report from the Labor Representation Office at the Egyptian Embassy in Lebanonconcerning decisions issued by Lebanese authorities regarding the settlement of status for Arab and foreign workers who have violated residency and labor regulations.
The report confirmed that the Lebanese General Directorate of General Security (GDGS) announced the start of procedures for settling the status of all Arab and foreign workers who entered the country legally for work but subsequently violated residency and labor laws.
According to the Lebanese statement, individuals, institutions, and companies illegally employing foreign labor were invited to submit applications to the competent departments at the Lebanese Ministry of Labor before March 31, 2026, to declare their workers and complete the settlement procedures.
These procedures include: transferring sponsorship, changing professional status, adjusting categories, and issuing a new work permit, followed by visiting regional General Security centers to obtain residency permits consistent with the nature of work.
The General Directorate of General Security also stressed that after the settlement period ends, it will launch a comprehensive campaign across all Lebanese territories, in coordination with the Lebanese Ministry of Labor, to seize foreign labor violators and take the necessary legal measures against both the employers and the non-compliant workers.
The Egyptian Ministry of Manpower appealed to all members of the Egyptian community in Lebanon to quickly benefit from the announced settlement period and follow legal procedures to preserve their legal status and employment opportunities, confirming its continued commitment to providing all forms of support and follow-up through the Labor Representation Office in Beirut.
