The Public Prosecution in Egypt handed over 265 kg of seized gold to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) during a ceremony held at the Public Prosecutor’s office in New Cairo, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Public Prosecutor Mohamed Shawky said that the Public Prosecution, in coordination with the relevant technical authorities, converted the seized gold into high-quality ingots, explaining that a total of 265 kilograms of high-purity ingots were produced in preparation for their delivery to CBE.
He added that this step came with the aim of organizing and finalizing the procedures for converting the seized items into gold bullion.
This is in order to prepare for handing them over to the Central Bank, and adding their value to the state’s public treasury, considering this option to be the best way to maximize the economic return.
