FM: Egypt-Turkey economic relations witnessing unprecedented momentum

CAIRO, Nov 12 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Wednesday reaffirmed that economic relations between Egypt and Turkey are currently witnessing unprecedented momentum, in light of the strategic direction of the Egyptian and Turkish leaderships to strengthen cooperation.

The minister made the remarks during his visit to the headquarters of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).

During the visit, he met with the Union’s President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in the presence of a number of senior Turkish business leaders and investors. The visit was part of his official trip to the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khalaf said that during the meeting, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the key role played by Hisarcıklıoğlu in supporting economic and trade relations between Egypt and Turkey, stressing the importance of the historic bonds linking the two friendly peoples.

Abdelatty underlined the vital role that the business communities in both countries can play in achieving the goal set by Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of raising the volume of trade exchange to dlrs 15 billion within the next five years.

The minister also expressed hope for strong participation from the Turkish business community in the upcoming Egyptian-Turkish Economic Forum, scheduled for 2026.

He further noted that the forum will serve as an important platform to expand investment partnerships and activate joint projects.

The spokesman added that Abdelatty reviewed the promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market, particularly within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which serves as a strategic hub for global trade.

He referred to the visit made by the Chairman of the Economic Zone to Turkey in September 2025 to promote opportunities for Turkish investors.

The minister stressed Egypt’s readiness to provide Turkish investors with field visits to assess the country’s investment opportunities and related support measures.

The meeting also addressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector through linking Egyptian and Turkish resorts, particularly in light of the significant increase in tourist exchanges between the two countries over the past year.

This, he noted, would help strengthen people-to-people ties and support both tourism and investment sectors.

The spokesman concluded that the meeting reflected both sides’ commitment to maintaining coordination and consultations to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation and foster a conducive climate for the growth of mutual investments in a way that serves the interests of the Egyptian and Turkish peoples.
