The Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang said on Sunday that the Chinese government issued a decree exempting Egyptian goods from customs duties upon entry into the Chinese market.
The move seeks to promote further high-quality Egyptian products and the volume of trade between the two sides, with Liqiang stating that China has been Egypt’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years.
During the Egyptian-Chinese Investment Forum, Liao emphasized the depth of economic relations between the two countries and the agreement to enhance cooperation across various investment and industrial sectors.
The ambassador noted that China recently received distinctive Egyptian products such as dates and frozen strawberries.
Liao added that China is also among the most active investors in the Egyptian market, with more than 2,800 Chinese companies operating in various sectors, in addition to the Chinese industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which houses approximately 190 companies with investments exceeding three billion dollars.
The ambassador emphasized that these investments and joint projects reflect the mutual trust between Cairo and Beijing and contribute to bolstering economic development in Egypt, creating new job opportunities, and transferring technology and industrial expertise.
He concluded by stating that the forum represents a pivotal platform for expanding the investment partnership between both nations, stressing that China will continue to support Egypt in the fields of renewable energy, manufacturing and logistics, in order to achieve both of their sustainable development goals.
