Giza shuts down lanes on 26th of July Street overnight for Monorail construction

The Giza Governorate has announced a partial overnight closure on 26th of July Street. The closure affects the direction traveling from 15th of May Bridge toward Lebanon Square  and will last for three consecutive days.

The closure is necessary to allow for construction work related to the Wadi El Nile – 6th of October Monorail project. Specifically, it will enable the installation of the metal scaffolding for 12 steel towers within the scope of the Wadi El Nile Monorail station, spanning a distance of 120 meters.

The partial closure begins at dawn on Friday, October 10, 2025, and continues until the morning of Sunday, October 12, 2025. Work will be strictly confined to the hours between 12:00 AM (midnight) and 6:00 AM each day. Traffic in the opposite direction will remain unaffected and will operate normally.

To facilitate vehicle movement during the closure, the Giza General Directorate of Traffic has established the necessary arrangements and announced two alternative routes for drivers coming from the 15th of May Bridge heading to Lebanon Square:

Alternative traffic routes

Route One: Turn right onto Salah Jaheen Street, then left onto Dr. Higazy Street, and left again onto Wadi El Nile Street, which will return drivers to 26th of July Street past the construction zone.

Route Two: Turn right onto Salah Jaheen Street, then right onto Ahmed Orabi Street, and right again onto Gameat El Dowal El Arabeya Street (Arab League Street), leading to Sudan Street and Lebanon Square.
