Slovenian president receives invitation from Sisi for GEM opening

CAIRO, Oct 7 (MENA) – Egypt’s Ambassador to Slovenia Nahla Al-Zawahiri handed over an invitation from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to his Slovenian counterpart Nataša Pirc Musar to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), set for November 1.

During a meeting with the Egyptian diplomat on Tuesday, the Slovenian president hailed the close ties binding both countries, voicing her profound appreciation for Egypt’s leading role in the region, according to a statement by the foreign ministry.

Meanwhile, Zawahiri conveyed President Sisi’s appreciation for Slovenia’s principled positions in favor of upholding international law and international humanitarian law.

Asserting Egypt’s commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation and cementing friendly ties between both countries, the ambassador said Egypt is looking forward to Musar’s participation in the major historical event, which is the culmination of a decades-long project to create the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization.
