Khatib nears new term as president for Ahly

The Chairman of the Al-Ahly Club Board of Directors, Mahmoud al-Khatib, is poised to assume a new term as president of the club in the club’s elections, after nominations closed at seven pm on Friday.

Sixteen candidates have applied for various positions in the elections scheduled for October 30 and 31.

Khatib has been confirmed as the sole candidate for the presidency.

Yassin Mansour is running for vice president and Khaled Mortagy is running unopposed for the treasurer position, as there are no other competitors for these positions.

The over-age membership elections will feature 12 candidates, including eight from Khatib’s main list, alongside four candidates from outside the list, who represent the direct competition for the available seats.

Ahly Club’s Board of Directors is scheduled to hold a meeting next week to approve the candidates’ papers before submitting them to the relevant administrative authority.

According to Ahly Club’s bylaws, the candidates, “without competition,” will be presented to the General Assembly for approval by acclamation, provided they receive the approval of at least 25 percent of those present.
