Attempt to burn Fadel Shaker’s house sparks tension in Lebanon

Lebanese media outlets have reported an attempt to set fire to singer Fadel Shaker’s home inside the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, which has caused a state of tension among residents.

Reports indicate that several individuals tried to approach the house, claiming they were protesting his continued singing activities inside the camp. However, neighbors intervened and stopped them before the situation could escalate.

Mediators have stepped in to contain the situation and calm the atmosphere amid fears of renewed tension in the area, especially given the ongoing controversy surrounding the singer’s presence in the camp for years.

Shaker has been living inside the Ain al-Hilweh camp since the Abra events in 2013, a period during which he received a number of in-absentia sentences. Some of these charges were later dropped, but his legal status remains a subject of widespread and continuous debate in media and judicial circles.
