Investigations by Interior Ministry’s security services in Egypt revealed on Sunday the truth surrounding the murder of six children and their father in Dalija village in the Dermawas city, Minya governorate, after they ate poisoned food on July 11.
The ministry said in a statement that its investigations revealed that the father’s second wife was behind the incident.
She had poisoned the bread she had prepared for her husband’s children, in an attempt to kill them and their mother.
Judicial sources reported that investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution office in Minya Governorate revealed that the suspect committed her act out of jealousy and revenge after her husband had recently remarried to his first ex-wife, spurring fears of him permanently separating from her.
The Public Prosecution conducted a comprehensive inspection of the family’s residence, collected food and water samples and interviewed eyewitnesses and neighbors.
However, it was difficult to obtain visual evidence due to the lack of surveillance cameras in the area.
