Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt’s membership in the African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) reflects its interest in developing public administration policies and applying the best management practices in Africa.

Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting on Sunday with members of the AAPAM led by John Nakabago, in the presence of President of Egypt’s Central Agency for Organization and Administration (CAOA) Saleh El Sheikh, who also acts as Vice President of the AAPAM Executive Committee for North Africa region. Egypt is set to host the AAPAM Executive Committee’s meetings next week.

The foreign minister added, Egypt, as a founding member of the association, is committed to supporting the AAPAM’s role in promoting excellence in public administration and good governance in Africa, for being two major factors in achieving sustainable development and addressing contemporary challenges.

He stated the AAPAM delegation’s visit offers a significant opportunity to exchange visions on how to advance cooperation between Egypt and the association in a way that benefits the African continent. The foreign minister expressed Egypt’s pride in hosting the AAPAM Executive Committee’s meetings, hoping they could yield fruitful results that assist in promoting public administration in Africa. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s continued efforts in strengthening institutional capacities, ensuring equal opportunities in access to public services, and modernizing government agencies, as well as supporting the empowerment of youth and women. The foreign minister noted Egypt plans to integrate the AAPAM into the African Union (AU), with a view to achieving the administrative reform and enhancing governance within the African bloc, stressing Egypt’s readiness to share best practices with the association in public administration.

In a related context, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s achievements in the past years, notably the usage of modern technology and digital transformation to develop government performance.
