
CAIRO, March 15 (MENA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the United Nations Development Programme Regional Bureau for Arab States Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari to discuss ongoing cooperation in human development and health domains.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said the meeting, held at the Ministry’s premises in the New Administrative Capital, focused on priorities in social protection, education, and health.
The minister welcomed Ghimar al-Deeb, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, to the Higher Advisory Committee for Human Development.
Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting emphasized the UNDP’s support for Egypt’s comprehensive health sector development project to enhance healthcare services and hospital infrastructure, along with a new initiative to build a modern facility for hazardous medical waste management in Suez Governorate.
The meeting also highlighted Egypt’s leading role in providing humanitarian and medical aid to Palestine and discussed potential collaboration with the UNDP on Gaza’s reconstruction, particularly in building hospitals and healthcare units. (MENA)
