
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a meeting with King Felipe VI of Spain on Wednesday19/2/2025 during his official visit to Spain to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, King Felipe VI expressed Spain’s pride in the long-standing historical ties between the two countries.
He also voiced hope that President Sisi’s visit would further enhance cooperation across various sectors and build on the positive momentum that has characterized bilateral relations in recent years.
He also conveyed Spain’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role and ongoing efforts as a key pillar in promoting stability and security in the Middle East, said Mohamed El Shennawy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency.
Sisi emphasized his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relationship, particularly in the economic and investment sectors, a commitment that was embodied in the elevation of bilateral relations to strategic partnership level.
He stressed that Egypt will provide all possible support to ensure the success of Spanish companies operating in the country and will work to overcome any challenges they may encounter.
According to Ambassador Mohamed El Shennawy, President Sisi commended Spain’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause.
He also stressed the importance of implementing the ceasefire deal in Gaza, facilitating the exchange of captives and detainees, allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza, and ensuring the reconstruction efforts proceed without displacing Palestinians.
President Sisi extended an invitation to the King and Queen of Spain to visit Egypt and to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Shennawy added.
King Felipe VI expressed his willingness to accept the invitation and visit Egypt soon.
