Egypt facilitates entry of heavy equipment into Gaza for reconstruction

Egyptian authorities on Tuesday began to bring heavy equipment into the Gaza Strip, through the Karm Abu Salem crossing, after several days lined up in front of the main courtyard in front of the Rafah land crossing gate in North Sinai.

An official source said that the heavy equipment was brought from in front of the Rafah land crossing to the Karm Abu Salem crossing.

The equipment is set to work on removing debris, clearing rubble, and begin the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing Palestinians.

The Governor of North Sinai, Khaled Majawer, added that this equipment will help open roads to facilitate the passage of Palestinian citizens within the Gaza Strip and provide access to all areas, in addition to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief trucks and fuel and their movement within the Strip.

The governor added that the entry of heavy equipment into the Gaza Strip confirms the success of Egypt’s negotiations and pressure on Israeli authorities after their refusal to allow the heavy equipment’s entry.

Egypt has succeeded in exerting pressure with each passing day, he said, especially following its efforts towards reaching a ceasefire agreement between the Israeli and Palestinian sides.
