Egypt’s Gaza plan: Safe zones, 24 multinational companies, 18-month timeline

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stressed the need for the United Nations to play its role through its development and humanitarian agencies to alleviate the tragedy witnessed in the Gaza Strip.

Abdel-Aty said that they are keen to coordinate with the United Nations Development Program to ensure the success of the Gaza reconstruction conference scheduled to be held in Cairo, according to Cairo News Channel.

The Foreign Minister explained that there are intensive efforts to enhance the access of humanitarian aid to Sudan and stressed the need to mobilize the efforts of the international community to ease the crisis in the country.

He issued a statement on Tuesday, in which it revealed that Egypt “intends to present a vision for the reconstruction of Gaza that guarantees the Palestinian people remain on their land.”

Egypt confirmed its proposal to start the first stages of Gaza’s reconstruction after the emergency Arab summit.

The plan for the reconstruction of Gaza includes the allocation of safe areas for the transfer of residents and includes the removal of rubble from some areas within 6 months, according to sources to Al-Arabiya channel.

Egypt said it will bring 24 multinational companies to rebuild Gaza, where those companies will work to build safe housing units after 18 months.
