The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) expects Wednesday’s weather to be cold during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt and the North Coast, moderate in northern Upper Egypt, and warm in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt.
The weather will be very cold at night and early in the morning over most of the country.
It is expected that moderate rain will continue to fall on the northeastern coasts and northern Lower Egypt, and may extend lightly to the northwestern coasts.
The EMA said that these weather conditions are consistent with the first week of the sixth Coptic month Meshir, during which the country witnessed a noticeable drop in temperatures.
The St. Catherine area recorded negative degree temperatures and moderate to light rainfall in some governorates.
It advised citizens to wear heavy winter clothes to avoid extreme cold and exercise caution in the late hours of the night and early morning.
The EMA also advised to keep windows closed shut and avoid standing in open areas during the night hours due to heightened wind activity.
Wednesday’s weather maps ruled out rain in Cairo, but the weather will be partly cloudy with winds reaching 30 km/hour.
The northwestern coasts will witness light rain with winds at speed of 34 km/h.
The northern parts of Lower Egypt and the northeastern coasts will witness light to moderate rainfall with winds of 32 km/h.
South Sinai, the Red Sea mountain ranges, Upper Egypt and southern Upper Egypt will see wind speeds of 30 km/h.
Expected temperatures for Wednesday:
- Cairo and Alexandria: 18C
- Hurghada: 21C
- Aswan, Sharm el-Sheikh: 22C
- Luxor: 23C
