Omani official hails Egyptian-Omani cultural relations

Director of the Department of Exhibitions Affairs at Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Khalfan Al Abri on Tuesday said declaring Oman as the guest of honor of the 56th edition of Cairo International Book Fair reflects the depth of historic and cultural relations between the two countries.

Abri, in statements to Sada al-Balad satellite channel, he said that the book fair is an opportunity to introduce the rich production of the Omani culture, civilization and history.

The great interest shown by Egyptian visitors to Oman’s pavilions in the fair reflects robust bilateral relations and keenness of the leaderships of both countries to strengthen ties, the Omani official said.

A high turnout was reported at the 56th edition of Cairo International Book Fair, with a record number of 4.5 million visitors throughout the past ten days. The fair also witnessed an influx of visitors of different nationalities and ages.

As many as 1,345 publishing houses and 6,150 exhibitors from 80 Arab and foreign countries are taking part in the 56th edition of Cairo International Book Fair, which runs till February 5.

The Sultanate of Oman is this year’s guest of honor.

New countries, including Chile, Belgium, Congo, Bulgaria, Austria and other countries are participating in this edition of the fair.

Launched in 1969, the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) is considered the largest and oldest book fair in the Middle East.
