The Egyptian Ministry of Aviation on Tuesday issued a statement after a hot air balloon that was carrying foreign tourists in Luxor Governorate, southern Upper Egypt was forced to make an emergency landing.
The ministry said that during the operation of hot air balloon flights in the Luxor area on Tuesday, one of the flights of “Dream Balloon” company was forced to make an emergency landing in a mountainous area in al-Qarnah, west of the Nile.
This emergency landing was the result of a sudden change in wind direction during the flight, the statement explained.
There were 24 passengers on board the balloon of Taiwanese and Chinese nationalities, the statement added, assuring that it landed safely without any injuries.
An emergency plan was immediately activated and the incident was managed efficiently through the ministry’s operations center at the Civil Aviation Authority, the statement explained, in coordination with the balloon company, the balloon takeoff ground management, the Egyptian Airports Company, Luxor Governorate, the Search and Rescue Center, and other relevant authorities.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation assured that all necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of passengers and safely evacuate them.
