The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned that temperatures will drop down during the end of autumn by December 22, as the country is impacted by a low pressure system bringing in rain and cold winds.
The EMA expects Saturday’s weather to be cold during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt and the North Coast, moderate in northern Upper Egypt and warm in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt, cold at night and early in the morning in most parts, and very cold in northern Upper Egypt and central Sinai.
Weather maps show morning fogs that may be dense on some agricultural and express roads and those close to water bodies, amid intermittent chances of light rain at the eastern coasts and active winds on the northern coasts, South Sinai and the southern parts of the country.
The EMA also issued a weather warning regarding the Red Sea, which is experiencing turbulent waves ranging from three to four meters high, with north-easterly surface winds.
The Mediterranean Sea will be moderate to turbulent, with waves ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters high, and north-eastern surface winds.
Expected temperatures on Saturday:
- Cairo: 20C
- Alexandria: 21C
- Hurghada: 23C
