Egypt, Germany Discuss Bilateral Relations, Regional Issues

Egyptian Ambassador in Berlin Mohamed al-Badry conferred with German Minister of State of Federal Foreign Office Tobias Lindner on regional and international issues of mutual interest especially the situation in the Middle East and the necessity to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and handle the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the enclave and the situation in Syria.

The two sides discussed the political, economic and cultural relations between Egypt and Germany and agreed on the importance of working on boosting ties and opening new horizons of cooperation in the different domains to serve mutual interest of both countries especially in the field of emigration of qualified labor and benefiting from the wide range of German language speakers in Egypt.

Lindner thanked Egypt for the organization of Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance Humanitarian Response in Gaza that was held on December 2.

He also lauded the Egyptian pivotal role in the region and its efforts to bring about peace.

Badry reviewed the results of the conference and highlighted Egypt’s mediation efforts for reaching a ceasefire agreement and arrangements related to managing the Gaza Strip.
