The Egyptian Criminal Court, upon the request of the Public Prosecution, issued a decision on Sunday to remove the names of 716 individuals from the Terrorism List.
This comes as part of the state’s move towards a comprehensive review of the status of those on the lists of terrorist entities and terrorists.
The decision also came after the Public Prosecution assigned the security authorities to conduct accurate investigations to verify on the continuation of terrorist activities by those on these lists.
The police investigations resulted in the aforementioned individuals ceasing any illegal activities against the state or its institutions, which prompted the Public Prosecutor to present the results of the investigations to the Criminal Court, which responded to the Public Prosecution’s request to remove their names from the lists.
The Public Prosecution clarified in its statement that it is continuing to review the situation of the remaining individuals on the lists of terrorists, noting that whoever is proven to have stopped their illegal activity will have their name removed from the lists in accordance with legal procedures.
This procedure comes within the state’s policy aimed at promoting justice and applying the law on the basis of accuracy and continuous review.
