Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi assigned a committee from the Social Solidarity Directorate in Gharbiya governorate to open an urgent investigation into the incident of a supervisor assaulting a child in a nursery.
The Minister of Social Solidarity moved to shut down the nursery to protect the children, and to take all legal measures regarding the incident.
A video went viral showing a supervisor at Dar al-Rehab Nursery in Tatai village of al-Santah Center, Gharbiya Governorate, assaulting a little girl while teaching a lesson, sparking public outrage.
The ministry’s investigations found that the incident occurred two months ago, and the girl’s family did not file a complaint despite knowing about it, a statement from the ministry said.
The investigations showed that the nursery includes 83 children, in violation of the license issued for 35 children, and also showed that the nursery officials had fired the supervisor involved in the incident on October 3.
