Recently retired squash champion Nour El-Tayeb has decided to run for the position of Vice President of the International Squash Federation in the upcoming elections scheduled for mid-December.
Former world squash champion and current Vice President, Karim Darwish announced in statements to the Egyptian “Youm7” news website, that he will not run for the upcoming elections, and rather will compete in the next round for the position of the President of the International Squash Federation.
Former world #3 Tayeb announced her retirement in July.
Since making her debut in 2004, Tayeb has established herself as one of the most popular and skilled players on the PSA Tour.
The 31-year-old reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 in 2018 and has won 16 titles in 20 years on the PSA Tour.
In the summer of 2021, Tayeb and her husband Ali Farag welcomed their daughter, Farida, and after 14 months away from the sport, Tayeb returned to action at the Blackpool Open in December 2021, where she reached the quarter-finals.
