Sisi receives CIA chief

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received on Thursday US Intelligence (CIA) Chief William Burns in the presence of Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS) Hassan Rashad.

The talks tackled the ongoing joint efforts to reach a truce in the Gaza Strip as well as means of holding negotiations to reach a ceasefire and exchange hostage.

The talks also highlighted the importance of full and immediate access of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians as this is a top priority for Egypt in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

He underscored the importance of putting into effect the two-state solution as the way for realizing peace and security in the region.

The talks also tackled the situation in Lebanon.

President Sisi urged an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon, warning the repercussions of continued escalation in the region that will cast its shadow on all people in the region, the presidential spokesman said.
