Sisi, Tebboune affirm their keenness to maintain, expand joint cooperation

CAIRO, Oct 27 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune asserted their keenness to maintain and expand joint cooperation and keep up mutual consultation and coordination on various regional as well as international issues.

Earlier in the day, Sisi received the Algerian president, who is on a working and fraternal visit to Egypt, at Cairo International Airport, before he escorted him to Al-Ittihadiya Palace where an official reception was held for the Algerian leader.

After the reception ceremony, the two sides held in-depth talks which tackled means of elevating bilateral relations in various areas to higher levels, according to a statement by Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy.

During their talks, the two leaders underscored the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and adequate flow of humanitarian aid. They held the international community responsible for protecting civilians during armed conflicts.

They also emphasized the need for establishing an independent Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Discussing the situation in Africa, the two sides underlined the importance of coordination for serving the continent’s interests and support development efforts in sisterly African nations.

They also stressed their commitment to promoting peace and security efforts all across the continent. (MENA)
