Madbouly highlights Sisi’s participation in BRICS summit meetings

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has stressed the importance of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s participation in the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, for the first time after Egypt officially joined the bloc this year.

During a cabinet meeting in the New Administrative Capital to review a number of important file, the prime minister said that Sisi highlighted Egypt’s stances on regional and international issues and means to cement relations with the bloc’s member states and coordination among them in the aftermath of the political and economic challenges the world is facing.

The prime minister directed the ministers to review aspects of cooperation with BRICS to capitalize on investment opportunities in a way that supports the participation of the economic bloc to achieve the desired goals.

He pointed out to the president’s call for ending the wars in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, reaching a ceasefire and dispatching aid to the war-stricken peoples.

The BRICS Summit kicked off on Wednesday in Russia’s city of Kazan, with the participation of President Sisi.

In his inaugural speech of the summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin underlined the need to achieve balance and maintain the effectiveness of BRICS, noting that the group has great political and economic potential.
