The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) expects that Sunday will see weather fluctuations in Cairo and coastal cities, coinciding with the al-Salib Storm.
The EMA explained that the storm will be accompanied by strong winds and heavy rains, particularly impacting Alexandria and other coastal cities. The northwestern winds will be noticeably active, which will increase the feeling of coldness.
Temperatures will range between 23C during the day and 18C at night.
Meteorologists indicate that this is one of the strongest storms to hit the Mediterranean coasts, and will likely continue for three days, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 50 kilometers per hour, with heavy rains that may lead to floods in some low-lying areas.
Cairo’s weather
Forecasts indicate relative stability in Cairo compared to coastal cities. Temperatures will be more moderate and are expected to reach 26C for daytime and drop to 18C by night.
Despite this stability active winds may hit some areas, so it is advised to follow EMA reports continuously to maintain public safety.
Storm in Alexandria
Alexandria residents are advised to exercise caution while moving around, especially due to water accumulations in some areas, and to take preventive measures to avoid the risks from the difficult weather conditions.
Local administrations in Alexandria and coastal cities are working to take the necessary preventive measures to confront the effects of the storm.
Sewage teams have been equipped to pump the accumulated water from the streets, and rain drains have been cleaned in anticipation of large water accumulations that may lead to the flooding of some low-lying areas.
Citizens are advised to follow weather bulletins and take the necessary precautions while moving around during this period.
Expected temperatures on Sunday:
- Alexandria: 23C
- Matrouh: 24C
- Cairo: 26C
Weather in other governorates
The EMA’s forecasts indicate that these weather fluctuations will continue over the coming days, especially in coastal cities and the Delta.
Residents of northern Upper Egypt are advised to follow the weather conditions, due to the possibility of the effects of this storm extending to them, with expectations of an additional drop in temperatures.
