Sisi receives Iranian Foreign Minister to discuss escalating regional tensions

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Thursday, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel Aty.

The meeting discussed the current developments in the region, where the president called for the need to cease the escalation and prevent a comprehensive regional war.

President Sisi also stressed the need to continue and intensify international efforts to stop the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, in addition to implementing urgent and sufficient humanitarian aid to eliminate the exacerbated suffering of civilians, according to Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy.

The Iranian minister on his end expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s continuous efforts to foster security and stability in the region, praising Egypt’s role in that regard on all tracks.

They agreed on the importance of continuing the current track to explore the prospects of joint development of relations between the two countries.
