If a regional war breaks out, we will be forced to adopt a “war economy”: Egypt’s Prime Minister

Mostafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, revealed on Wednesday, that his country is ready for all scenarios in the event that the situation becomes more difficult in the region, and until this moment, the state is able to secure all the state’s needs for goods, petroleum materials and investments.

The Egyptian Prime Minister explained during a press conference at the administrative capital that the regional war that the region may witness will have an impact on logistical supplies, the regularity of oil and gas shipments, and major repercussions on transportation costs.

Noting that Egypt has not yet taken any exceptional measures to deal with the developments witnessed by the region.

He stressed the Egyptian government’s keenness to ensure the regularity of electricity, gas and energy supplies to factories during the coming period.

He said: “The consequences will be severe if a regional war erupts. We must all be careful if the region enters a regional war, the consequences will be severe and the issue is completely different, and we will deal with a war economy, whether we like it or not as a state.”

He stressed the importance of continuing and sustaining the provision of goods, services and infrastructure to the Egyptian citizen, under these circumstances.
