Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday, in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Atti and Jordanian Ambassador to Cairo Amjad Adaileh.
The Official Spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the Jordanian Foreign Minister conveyed to the President the greetings of his brother, King Abdullah II of Jordan, which the President appreciated, affirming Egypt’s pride in its deep-rooted historical relations with Jordan at both the official and popular levels, and their shared aspiration to continuously develop frameworks of bilateral cooperation to achieve the aspirations of their brotherly peoples towards development and prosperity.
The spokesperson added that the meeting discussed the latest developments in Egyptian and Jordanian efforts to achieve calm in the region, where the two countries’ firm position was reaffirmed regarding the need to intensify serious international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and to enforce the required amounts of humanitarian aid to save the region from a large-scale humanitarian crisis.
It was also emphasized that the independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967 is the fundamental guarantor of achieving lasting peace and stability in the region, while stressing the danger of the military escalation path, which complicates the situation and leads to possibilities that seriously threaten regional security and the capabilities of the peoples of the region.
