Foreign passenger arrested for theft at Cairo International Airport

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced that it had received a report from the pilot of an international flight at Cairo International Airport regarding the theft of money from the luggage of two foreign passengers.

Upon investigation, security forces were able to identify and apprehend one of the passengers, a foreign national, who had been sitting near the victims. It was discovered that the perpetrator had executed the theft through a sleight-of-hand maneuver and had concealed the stolen funds in their seat.

Upon searching his belongings, authorities recovered $1680 USD, 450 Euros, 134 Jordanian Dinars, 645 UAE Dirhams, 6000 Iraqi Dinars, 440 Turkish Lira, 720 Serbian Dinars, 440 Thai Baht, 100 Malaysian Ringgit, and 25,000 Cambodian Riel. These funds were identified as the proceeds of theft from unidentified passengers that he had stolen while at the airport.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has taken legal action against the suspect, and the Public Prosecution has assumed jurisdiction over the case.
