Minister of Defense and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohamed Zaki had a meeting on Wednesday 17/1/2024 with UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza Sigrid Kaag to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting with the UN official and his accompanying delegation, the minister asserted Egypt’s firm stand in support of the Palestinian cause in accordance with international legitimate resolutions and expressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of the forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
The two sides asserted their keenness on coordinating with all regional and international parties to reach a ceasefire and reduce the Palestinians’ humanitarian suffering in the Strip.
For his part, the UN coordinator lauded Egypt’s efforts to allow the delivery of relief aid to the Gaza Strip, saying he is looking forward that current international efforts will culminate in securing a ceasefire in Gaza.
